How Do I Fix Errors in My Estimates?

Handoff AI is highly accurate but may occasionally produce errors in scope, quantities, or unit rates. Here is how to correct them.


Edit with AI Chat

The fastest way to fix errors is to follow up in the AI chat:

  1. Open the estimate and tap Use Handoff AI (mobile) or Ask AI anywhere (desktop).

  2. Type a correction in plain English, for example:

    • “Change the tile labor rate to $12/sq ft”

    • “Remove the electrical section entirely”

    • “Add a 10% contingency line item”

    • “The square footage should be 850, not 650”

  3. Tap Send. The AI will update the estimate based on your correction.

Edit Line Items Directly

You can also edit any row in the estimate table manually:

  1. Tap any row in the estimate to open the line item editor.

  2. Update the description, quantity, unit cost, or category.

  3. Tap Save.

Add or Remove Items

  • Tap + Add item at the bottom of a section to add a new line item.

  • Swipe left on any row and tap Delete to remove it.

  • Tap + Add group or + Add room to add a new section.

Improve Future Estimates

  • Use AI Presets (Settings → Presets) to save your default labor rates and markups so the AI uses your numbers automatically.

  • Add more detail to your initial prompt — specific measurements and materials lead to more accurate results.
