How Do I Edit Items?

Handoff allows you to easily edit items in your estimates. You can either Edit with AI, or manually Edit items one by one.

Here are the main ways to make changes:

  1. Manual Editing

    On Mobile

    • Tap any line item to open the editing panel

    • Update the title, quantity, cost, or other details as needed

    • Tap Done at the bottom to save your changes

    On Desktop

    • Editing works like a standard spreadsheet

    • Click into the line item cell you want to update and type your changes, or adjust quantities and cost types

    • Changes are saved automatically

  2. Adding New Items

    On Mobile

    • Tap the + icon in the top-right corner of your estimate

    • Select Add item

    • Choose the group you want the item added to

    • Enter the item details (title, quantity, unit, etc.), then tap Done

    • The new item will be added to the bottom of the selected group

    On Desktop

    • Hover over the bottom of the group you want to add an item to until Add item appears

    • Click Add Item

    • Enter the details for the new item

    • The item will be added to the bottom of that group

  3. Bulk Editing with AI

This is our recommended way to edit estimates—it’s much faster than manually clicking through line items.

    • Open the AI Agent by selecting Use Handoff AI

      • On Desktop: Found in the left-hand chat panel, near the bottom-left of your screen

      • On Mobile: Found at the bottom of your screen

    • Describe the changes you want to make (for example: “Change all labor rates to $110 per hour”)

    • The AI will update your estimate automatically

Tips:

  • Use manual editing for quick changes to individual items

  • Use AI-powered editing for bulk changes or complex updates

  • You can combine manual and AI editing methods as needed

Remember, Handoff's AI can handle calculations and updates automatically, saving you time compared to manually updating a spreadsheet.
