Initial Estimate Creation

  1. Access your dashboard and click the plus button to start a new estimate.

  2. Name your estimate (EX: "New Home Build").

  3. Click the "Use AI" button to begin.

  4. Provide project details in the prompt. Include:

    • Basic information (EX: 3,000 square foot house, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms)

    • Structural details (EX: three-story with basement)

    • Finishes and materials (EX: engineered wood flooring, high-end finishes)

    • Exterior features (EX: thin brick siding)

  5. Click "Apply" to generate the initial estimate.

Reviewing and Refining the Estimate

  1. Handoff AI organizes the estimate by construction phases (EX: demolition, excavation, framing).

  2. Each phase includes itemized scopes of work with quantities and costs.

  3. Review the total cost and per-square-foot cost for accuracy.

Fine-tuning the Estimate

  1. Click "Edit Estimate with AI" to make adjustments.

  2. Provide specific instructions to refine the estimate, such as:

    • Updating labor rates EX: "Change all labor rates to $95 per hour"

    • Changing material specifications EX: "Make appliances Viking Series 4 stainless steel, high-end"

    • Adding missing scopes of work EX: "Include a 20x20 driveway" EX: "Include a lump sum for a small shed in the backyard" EX: "Include perimeter vinyl fencing"

    • Adjusting quantities or unit costs EX: "Increase the quantity of windows by 20%"

  3. Click "Apply" to regenerate the estimate with your changes.

  4. Repeat the fine-tuning process as needed until the estimate meets your requirements.

Remember, the more detailed information you provide, the more accurate your estimate will be. Handoff AI uses industry standards and your input to calculate quantities and costs, making the estimation process efficient and comprehensive.
