Handoff's AI chat feature offers a more interactive and intelligent way to create estimates. Here's how to use it:

1. Accessing the AI chat:

• Look for the "Use Handoff AI" bar on any new, or existing estimate to start using AI Chat.

2. Starting your estimate:

• Type your project description directly into the chat bar.

• Click the pre-made templates for common projects.

3. Interacting with the AI:

• The AI will ask clarifying questions to gather more details about your project.

• Respond to these questions to help the AI create a more accurate estimate.

4. Refining your estimate:

• The AI will explain its assumptions and provide an initial estimate.

• You can further refine details like appliance brands or flooring materials.

5. Using voice commands:

• Click the microphone icon to speak your project description or responses.

6. Reviewing estimate history:

• Scroll through the left-hand panel to view your conversation history with the AI.

• Click on previous versions to review or revert to earlier estimates.

7. Additional features:

• Ask the AI for ny questions about your estimate, such as summaries of labor hours or material quantities.

• Conversation History: You can see every message between you and the AI. It's as easy as reading texts on your phone.

• Version History: Undo any mistakes by jumping back to any estimate version.

• Start with Templates: You can start a new estimate by choosing from common projects. We'll prefill the project description.

• Follow-up Questions: Our AI will ask for project details to ensure it's providing an accurate estimate.

• Voice to Text: Tap the microphone button to speak your instructions from any device.

AI Chat Troubleshooting

This section covers common issues with Handoff's AI Chat feature and steps to resolve them.

Network Issues

**Error Message: "Network Unavailable. Please Wait."**

- Cause: Network connectivity issue.

- Solution:

- On Desktop: Refresh the web page.

- On Mobile: Close and reopen the app.

- Note: No data should be lost, and the issue usually resolves within a minute.

Non-Responsive AI Chat

**Symptom: Horizontal loading bars with no response after one minute.**

- Cause: AI Chat is in a non-responsive state.

- Solution Steps:

1. Refresh the app:

- On Desktop: Refresh the web page.

- On Mobile: Close and reopen the app.

2. Send a prompt message: Try sending a short message like "Please create the estimate" or "Please update the estimate" to kickstart the AI.

3. Log out and log back in:

- Tap your avatar in the top left corner to go to settings.

- Scroll down and click "Log Out." Then log back in.

4. Switch devices: If using a computer, try accessing Handoff from your mobile device, and vice versa.

5. Start a new estimate:

- Copy and paste instructions from your current estimate to a new one to restart the chat session.

Other Troubleshooting Steps

- Send a Follow-Up Message: While the AI is loading, sending another message may help it refresh or restart itself.

- Contact Support: If the issue persists, contact our support team. Include details about the issue and, if possible, attach a screenshot or short screen recording to assist in diagnosing the problem.

- Mobile Users: If you've exhausted all self-troubleshooting steps above, try fully uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This can often resolve persistent issues.

Issues with AI-Generated Estimates

**Symptom: Unwanted Estimate Versions**

- Solution: Use the Version History Feature

- Scroll up on the chat screen to view previous estimate versions, shown as white rectangular cards.

- On Desktop, the card will have a green border when hovered over.

- Click on the card, then click the green "Use This Version" button to revert to that estimate.

- All versions are saved, allowing you to switch between versions like checkpoints.

Note: If an estimate issue persists, include specific details of the estimate when contacting support to expedite the troubleshooting process.
