To search everything in Handoff on desktop, select Search at the top of the left sidebar, or press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows. In the mobile app, each list has its own search field.
Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Search on desktop
Select Search in the left sidebar, or press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows).
Type a name, number, or word. Results update as you type.
Select a result to open it.
To narrow the results, select a filter tab. All shows every type. The other tabs are:
Projects
Estimates
Proposals
Invoices
Clients
Daily Logs
Documents
Schedule
Expenses
You see only the tabs for records your role can view.
Recent searches
With an empty search box, Handoff lists your RECENT SEARCHES, newest first. Select one to run it again, or select the x next to it to remove it. Handoff keeps your last 15 searches on the device and browser you use, so they do not follow you to another device.
What you can search for
Names and titles of projects, estimates, proposals, and invoices
Project, estimate, and invoice numbers
Client names, business names, phone numbers, and email addresses
The text of daily logs, documents, schedule items, and expenses
File and folder names, which return the project they belong to
Search in the mobile app
The mobile app does not have global search. Instead, each list has its own search field that looks only inside that list.
For example, the Projects list searches projects, and a project's Files tab searches file and folder names in that project.
Who sees which results
Search shows only your own company's records, and it follows your role. You see a tab and its results only if your role can view that type, so Field Crew does not see Estimates, Invoices, or Clients. If your role only has access to invited projects, you see records only from projects you are on.
If you can't find something
Check the filter tab. Select All to search every type.
Check your access. If your role cannot view that type, or you are not invited to the project, it does not appear in search.
Search for a project instead. Files are found through their project, so search the project name.
Reload the search. If you see Something went wrong, select Reload search.
