To customize your project statuses, go to Settings > Project settings > Statuses. There you add, rename, reorder, and delete statuses, and the Labels tab holds your project labels.
Available on the Pro and Scale plans. You need permission to edit Company settings to change statuses and labels, and permission to delete Company settings to delete a status. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Open Project settings
Go to Settings > Project settings. On the Projects list, you can also select the settings icon, or in the mobile app, select Project settings from the menu.
Project settings has four tabs:
Columns: choose which project fields show, such as status, labels, client, and assignee.
Statuses: manage your list of statuses.
Labels: manage your project labels.
Automations: choose which status each event moves a project to.
Add, rename, reorder, and delete statuses
New accounts start with Lead, Draft, Bidding, Approved, In Progress, Completed, and Archived. You can change any of them.
In the Statuses tab, select Add status, enter a name and pick a color, then select Add. New statuses appear at the top of the list.
To rename a status, open its menu and select Rename.
To reorder, drag the handle beside a status. The order in the list is the order of your board.
To delete, open the menu and select Delete. If projects use the status, choose another status to move them to first.
You can have up to 30 statuses and must keep at least one. Names must be unique. You can't delete a status that an automation points to until you assign that automation another status.
Set automations
In the Automations tab, choose a status for each event:
New project: where a new project starts. By default, Lead.
Proposal sent: by default, Bidding.
Proposal approved: by default, Approved.
Automations only move a project forward in your status order. Sending a proposal on a project that is already Approved does not move it back to Bidding.
Create labels for projects
In the Labels tab, select Add label. You can have up to 50 labels, and each project can use up to 15.
Anyone who can edit a project can apply your existing labels from the project's Add labels chip.
Filter projects by status
On desktop, in the List view of the Projects page, select All statuses and choose a status. In the mobile app, select the same chip next to the search field. The Board view is desktop only and shows each status as a column.
Anywhere you see a project's status chip, you can change that project's status on every plan. The chip is labeled with a phase name, or Set phase when empty. Status and phase mean the same thing.
