To offer several versions of a job on one proposal, open the estimate and select the + next to the option tabs. Each tab is its own estimate, and your client picks one when they approve. You can add up to five options.
Available on the Pro and Scale plans. You need permission to edit Estimates. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Add an estimate option
Open the estimate. The option tabs, such as Estimate 1, appear above the estimate.
Select + to add an option. On desktop, the + is at the end of the tab row. In the mobile app, it is pinned at the right of the tabs.
Price the new option. Each option is its own estimate, so you add and edit its line items the same way as any other estimate.
Handoff creates a blank option and opens it. The + disappears once the proposal has five options.
Duplicate, rename, or delete an option
Open the menu for the option. On desktop, select the three-dot menu on the tab. In the mobile app, select the three-dot menu at the right of the tabs. It acts on the selected tab.
Select Duplicate to copy the option as a starting point, Rename to change its name, or Delete to remove it.
If you select Delete, confirm. Deleting an option also deletes its estimate.
On desktop, you can also select the active tab again to rename it. Press Enter to save the name. Use names your client understands, such as "Standard finish" and "Premium finish".
Choose what the client sees for each option
In the proposal, the Estimate section shows the option you are viewing. In the proposal's Estimate section, set these fields for each option:
Show on proposal: turn it off to hide the option from your client and from the PDF.
Label: the name your client sees.
Description: a short line that explains the difference.
What happens when the client approves
Your client reviews the options on the same proposal and chooses one when they approve. The option they approve shows a Selected badge on its tab. The other options are marked not selected and stay on the proposal for your records.
The payment schedule follows the option your client selects, because each option can have a different total.
Things to know
You can't change options on a sent or approved proposal. To edit, open the three-dot menu and select Edit. On desktop, the menu is in the page header. In the mobile app, it is in the top bar.
A proposal with several options can't be converted to a change order. Convert to change order is unavailable and the menu says "Its proposal offers more than one option."
