How your client chooses options on a proposal

Send a proposal with options and add-ons as a recipient so your client can choose, see the price update, and accept. Track what they picked.

Written by Handoff Support

To let your client choose, send the proposal to them as a recipient. The link they receive lets them pick an option or add-on, see the price update, and accept. A link you copy and share yourself shows the choices, but the person who opens it can't change them.

Available on the Pro and Scale plans. You need permission to edit Estimates. Works on desktop and in the mobile app. Your client's page works the same in a phone browser and a desktop browser.

Send the proposal so your client can choose

  1. Set up the choices on your estimate. See How to add options and add-ons to an estimate.

  2. Open the proposal and select Send.

  3. Send it to your client by Email or SMS so they get their own link.

Your client's link is tied to them as a recipient, which is what allows them to make selections.

What your client sees and does

  1. Options: under Select an option, your client selects one alternative in each group. When there are several groups, the heading reads Select your options. Each alternative shows its full price.

  2. Add-ons: under Choose add-ons, your client checks the extras they want. Each shows the amount it adds, such as + $850.

  3. Price: the subtotal, tax, total, and payment amounts update as they choose. Prices show Updating… briefly while a choice saves.

  4. Decision: your client selects Accept or Decline, or sends feedback.

Choices save automatically. If a choice can't save, the price shows Couldn't save · Retry.

See what your client chose

  1. Open the proposal and find the status banner at the top.

  2. Select Show activity to see what your client did, or Show feedback to read their messages.

  3. After approval, look at your estimate. The chosen option and each included add-on show a Selected badge.

When choices lock

Your client's choices lock when the proposal is approved. After that they are read-only, and later edits to the estimate don't change what your client accepted. Until then, you can still change the default selection on your estimate.
