To duplicate, archive, or delete an estimate, open its three-dot menu and select Duplicate, Archive, or Delete. Duplicate copies the work, archive tucks it away without losing it, and delete removes it.
Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. You need permission to edit Estimates, proposals, & change orders to duplicate or archive, and permission to delete them to delete. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Open the menu
Open the estimate and select the three-dot menu in the top bar. You can also use the menu in the project's Estimates tab. On desktop it is on the estimate's row. In the mobile app it is on the card.
Duplicate an estimate
Select Duplicate. The copy opens right away in the same project, as a draft named after the original with "(copy)" added.
The copy keeps your line items, markups, tax, terms, attachments, client, and proposal message, plus earlier versions. It gets a new estimate number. Nothing has been sent to your client, so you can edit it freely.
If the estimate is one of several options on a proposal, Duplicate copies the whole proposal with every option. A duplicated change order stays a change order.
Archive and unarchive an estimate
Select Archive. The estimate stays in the project's Estimates tab with an Archived badge.
Sent proposal: it is canceled. An approved or declined proposal keeps that status.
Budget: an archived estimate no longer counts toward the project budget.
Combine: archived estimates can't be combined with others.
Approved option: an estimate that is the approved option of a proposal can't be archived.
To bring it back, open the estimate and select Unarchive, or use the menu on its row or card. A proposal you had sent becomes active again. Otherwise the estimate returns as a draft.
Delete an estimate
Select Delete, then confirm in the dialog. If the estimate is synced to QuickBooks, you can delete it in Handoff only or in both.
Deleting removes the estimate's proposal, its linked invoices, and any linked expenses with their budget data. Handoff support can restore a deleted estimate. You can't do it yourself.
An archived estimate doesn't show Delete on its own screen. Use the menu on its row or card in the Estimates tab instead.
Record your client's answer
To log that your client approved or declined a sent proposal, see How to accept a proposal on behalf of your client.
