If you use magicplan to scan rooms on-site, you no longer have to re-enter those measurements into your estimate by hand. Connect your magicplan account once, and every scan you export lands in the matching Handoff project automatically.
Available on the Pro and Scale plans.
What You Need
A Handoff account on the Pro or Scale plan;
A magicplan account with API access enabled (requires a magicplan Pro subscription);
You'll generate an API key and Customer ID from your magicplan account — see magicplan's guide to generating API credentials
Works with the magicplan app on both iOS and Android
Step 1: Connect Your magicplan Account
In Handoff, go to Settings → Integrations & API keys;
Find magicplan and click on Connect;
Enter your magicplan API Key and Customer ID;
Select Connect magicplan
Step 2: Scan On-Site
Use the magicplan app on your phone or tablet as you normally would to scan a room with LiDAR. When you're done, tap Export in magicplan.
That export is what tells Handoff a new scan is ready — you don't need to do anything else in Handoff at this point, it will automatically sync with Handoff.
Step 3: Review and Match the Scan to a Project
Head back to Handoff and open Settings → Integrations & API keys → magicplan to see your imported scans.
Handoff compares the scan's address and name to your existing projects and, when it finds a clear match, suggests it for you. You'll always confirm the match yourself before anything is added to a project.
Step 4: Confirm the Measurements
Once a scan is matched to a project, open the floor plan from the project's Files. Before those measurements can be used in an estimate, you'll be asked to confirm them:
Review the room names and measurements shown;
Check "I reviewed the room names and measurements";
Select Confirm measurements
Once confirmed, the measurements are available to Handoff AI and can be suggested in your estimate.
What Comes Into Handoff
For every room in a confirmed scan:
Square footage;
Perimeter (linear feet);
Wall dimensions;
Window and door counts
The floor plan file is saved to the project's Files, so you can check it whenever you need.
FAQ
1. Does this build my estimate for me?
No. Magicplan brings in the floor plan with measurements (square footage, ceiling height, linear footage, door/window counts). You still build the estimate, but you're starting from real numbers instead of typing them in from a printout.
2. What if a scan doesn't match any of my projects?
It's held as unmatched until you assign it. Nothing is lost, and nothing is added to the wrong job.
3. Do I need a magicplan subscription?
Yes, you'll need a magicplan account with API access (a magicplan Pro subscription) to generate your API key.
