To recreate an estimate, attach the PDF, CSV, or Excel file in the Handy chat with + > Upload files, and ask Handy to replicate it. Handy (Handoff's AI assistant) reads the file and builds a new Handoff estimate from it.
Available on all plans. Flex includes 50 AI credits a month, and Pro and Scale are unlimited. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Recreate the estimate
Open the project and start an estimate. On desktop, select Create > Estimate. In the mobile app, select the + button in the bottom right, then Estimate. You can also open the chat on an empty estimate.
Select the + button next to the Ask Handy box, then select Upload files.
Choose your PDF, CSV, Excel, or Word file.
Ask Handy to replicate it. For example: "Recreate this estimate with the same groups, quantities, and prices."
Send the message.
Handy creates the estimate as a new one and leaves the original unchanged.
Review every line
The result is an AI-assisted recreation, not an exact import. Handy tries to follow the format and logic in your file, but it can misread a row, a quantity, or a unit.
Check each line against your original before you send the estimate to a client. Scanned or handwritten files are the most likely to have errors, and only the first 100 pages of a long PDF are searched.
If a line is wrong, tell Handy in the chat. You can also edit the line directly in the estimate table.
When to use Data import instead
Settings > Data import does not accept PDF or CSV files. It connects to Buildertrend or JobTread and brings over your projects, contacts, subs and vendors, estimates, change orders, invoices, daily logs, and rate catalog.
If your estimates live in one of those tools, use Data import. For any other source, use the steps above.
