Handoff is built for residential construction and remodeling, and Handy (Handoff's AI assistant) will try to estimate any construction scope you describe. AI takeoff from plans is stricter: it works on residential projects only.

What Handy can estimate
Describe the job in the Ask Handy box by typing, talking, or attaching photos and files. Handy builds the estimate from your description and your own catalog rates.
Handy groups work into trade sections such as Demolition, Framing, Plumbing, Electrical, Drywall, Tile, Flooring, Cabinets, Painting, and Landscaping. It can also group by room and trade, such as Kitchen and Electrical.
Commercial and unusual scopes are also accepted, but Handoff doesn't promise the same accuracy. Review the line items and adjust quantities and prices.
What AI takeoff supports
AI takeoff reads uploaded plans and measures them to build an estimate. It works on residential projects only, within size and page limits. See What AI takeoff is and when to use it for the limits.
If plans don't meet these limits, Handoff shows a message such as "AI Takeoff supports residential projects only". Use Handy chat to estimate those jobs instead.
Insurance and remediation work
You can write estimates for insurance and remediation jobs in Handy and send them as a proposal or PDF. Handoff doesn't use Xactimate codes or formats, and it has no built-in library for drying, mold, or contents work. Handy estimates these jobs from your description, with your own catalog rates for pricing.
To export, open the estimate, select Convert to, and select PDF or CSV.
