To create a project schedule, open the project and go to the Schedule tab. Then either ask Handy (Handoff's AI assistant) to generate a schedule from your estimate, or add your first phase or event yourself. Each project has one schedule.
Available on the Pro and Scale plans. Creating a schedule needs Edit permission for Schedules. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Generate a schedule with Handy
Handy builds the schedule from the estimate on the project, so you only need to give it a start date.
Open the project and go to the Schedule tab.
On desktop, select Generate schedule on the empty Schedule tab. In the mobile app, select New at the bottom, then select Schedule.
In the Handy chat that opens, answer Handy's questions. It asks for the start date and, if the project has several estimates, which one to use.
Handy replies with a table of phases showing Phase Name, Start Date, End Date, Duration (working days), and Dependencies. The schedule is saved to the Schedule tab.
You can also select Generate schedule in the Schedule card on the project Overview tab. From the company Schedule page, select Create > Schedule, choose a project, and select Continue.
What Handy uses to build the schedule
Handy schedules the work items you selected in the estimate. Add-ons and alternative options that are not selected are left out.
It builds a standard run of construction phases, such as demo, framing, drywall, and punch list, mostly one after another and linked by dependencies. Durations count working days. To change the result, ask Handy in the chat, for example to move the start date.
While Handy is editing, the schedule is read-only. You can edit again when Handy finishes.
Create a schedule by hand
Adding the first phase or event creates the schedule, named after the project. There is no separate button to create an empty schedule.
Open the project and go to the Schedule tab.
On desktop, select Create, then choose Phase or Event. If you see Create phase and Create event buttons instead, select one of those. In the mobile app, select New, then choose Phase or Event.
Enter a Title and set the dates in the form that opens.
Select Create.
The item appears on the Schedule tab. Select Create again to add more.
What to do after you create the schedule
Review the phases, then set the details that matter on each one: dates, Assignee, Color, and Dependencies. See the related article for each field.
Choose how you want to look at the schedule, and use the company Schedule page to see it next to your other projects.
