Overview
Clients can choose Options and Add-ons directly on their proposal. Their choices update the price automatically and lock when the proposal is approved.
This guide explains how to send a proposal with selections, what your client sees, and how to track their decisions.
Send the proposal
Set up Options and Add-ons on your estimate. See How to add Options and Add-ons to an estimate.
Send the proposal to your client as a recipient so they receive a proposal link that lets them make selections.
Note: A link you copy and share yourself displays the choices, but viewers cannot change them.
How your client makes selections
Pick an option. Under Select an option, your client selects one alternative from each Options group. If there are multiple groups, the heading reads Select your options. Each alternative shows its full price.
Choose add-ons. Under Choose add-ons, your client checks the extras they want. Each add-on shows the amount it adds, such as + $850.
Review the updated price. The affected items, subtotal, tax, total, and payment amounts update automatically. Prices briefly show Updating… while the choice saves.
Accept, send feedback, or decline. Once all choices have saved, your client can accept the proposal as usual. They can also send feedback or decline.
Track your client's decisions
Open the proposal and find the client activity summary in the status banner.
Expand the summary to view messages and selection decisions.
Review the selected items after approval. Your estimate displays a green Selected badge on the chosen option and each included add-on.
Additional notes
Choices save automatically. Selection decisions appear in the activity history only when your client sends feedback, accepts or signs, or declines. Each entry records the final choices at that moment, rather than every change.
Feedback includes selection context. When your client sends feedback, Handoff records the option and add-ons selected at that moment.
Choices lock at approval. Accepted selections become read-only on the proposal, in your view, and in the Client Portal. Later estimate edits do not change what the client accepted.
The first required signature locks selections. If multiple signatures are required, everyone who signs afterward sees the locked document and selections.
Default selections can still be changed before approval. You can update the default selection on your estimate after sending the proposal, until it is approved.
