To edit a photo or a rendering, open it in Image Editor from your project's Files, from the file preview, or from the Edit with AI card in a Handy chat. Describe a change, save the result to your project, and then use it in a proposal.
Available on all paid plans. You need permission to edit Files. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Open an image in Image Editor
Image Editor opens JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. Other file types don't show the edit option. Use any of these entry points:
From Files: in your project, open Files, select the three-dot menu on an image, and select Edit. On the mobile app, press and hold the image to open the same menu.
From a preview: open the image, then select Edit image in the preview header.
From Handy: ask Handy (Handoff's AI assistant) for a picture, such as a fence or a patio. When the image is ready, select Edit with AI on the chat card.
Handy makes an image only when you ask for a visual. A photo you attach, or a request to build something, doesn't create one.
Change the image
In Image Editor, choose a tool: Make changes, Add image, or Remove area.
For Make changes, describe one change, such as "replace the siding with gray board and batten". To place the change exactly, select a spot on the image first.
For Add image, upload a photo or choose one from your project files as a reference, such as a material sample. On the mobile app, the tool is labeled Add Reference Image.
For Remove area, choose a brush size and paint over the area to remove.
Select Generate on desktop, or Send in the mobile app.
Each change makes a new version. The version history shows under the image, and you can go back to an earlier version. If Handy warns that it may have trouble with a request, select Continue anyway or Change the request.
Save the image to your project
Nothing is saved to your project until you save it. On desktop, select Save to project. In the mobile app, select Save. The status then reads Saved to project.
If you started from a Handy chat and the image has no project yet, choose a project when you save. If you close Image Editor with unsaved versions, Save images to project? appears. Select Save to keep them, or Leave without saving to discard them.
Download the image
Select Download file to save the image to your device. This works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Use a saved rendering in a proposal
Image Editor has no button that inserts an image into a proposal. Save the rendering to your project first, then add it from the proposal.
Open the proposal and go to the Files section. If there isn't one, add a Files section from the insert menu.
Open the section editor and select Select from project.
Choose the rendering, then confirm.
The image appears in the proposal and in its PDF. You can add a caption and choose a single-, two-, or three-column layout for the section.
