Handy (Handoff's AI assistant) can do much more than build estimates. You can ask it to work on proposals, invoices, schedules, time, expenses, and more, using plain sentences in the chat.
Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. Some actions need the Pro or Scale plan. Handy only does what your role has permission to do. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Estimates, proposals, and invoices
Estimates: create, change, rename, and export estimates, and switch estimate versions. "Add a 10% contingency to this estimate." See How to create an estimate with Handy.
Proposals: edit the client message, terms, signature requirement, and attachments, then send, cancel, or mark a proposal approved. "Send this proposal to Dana by email." See How to send a proposal.
Options and add-ons: on Pro and Scale, ask Handy to set up options, layouts, and the proposal timeline.
Change orders: turn an estimate into a change order or link one to an estimate. "Make this estimate a change order." See How to create a change order.
Invoices and payments: create an invoice from an estimate or an approved proposal, edit its rows, log payments, and send it. "Invoice the first payment on the Lee kitchen." See How to create and send an invoice.
Reminders: on Pro and Scale, check follow-up reminders on a proposal or invoice, turn them on or off, or send one now.
Running the job
Projects and contacts: create projects, change their status, and add or update clients, subs, and vendors. "Add Mike's Plumbing as a vendor." See How to add or edit a contact.
Schedules: on Pro and Scale, build or change a project schedule and see the company schedule. "Push the framing phase back two days." See How to create a project schedule.
Tasks: on Pro and Scale, create lists, assign, complete, and move tasks. "Create a punch list for the Smith job." See How to create and assign tasks.
Time tracking: on Pro and Scale, clock yourself in or out, check hours, and approve time entries if your role allows. See How time tracking works.
Daily logs: on Pro and Scale, write, update, and share daily logs. "Log today's site visit."
Expenses and cost codes: on Pro and Scale, add or import expenses from a receipt, and rename cost codes. "Add a $240 lumber expense to the Lee job." See How to add expenses to a project budget.
Documents: create, edit, and share documents. See How to create documents with Handy.
Clients, subs, and vendors
On the Pro and Scale plans, Handy can share proposals, invoices, documents, daily logs, and files to your client's portal. "Share the latest daily log to the client portal." See How to share items to the client portal.
On the Scale plan, Handy can manage the Sub & Vendor portal: invite a sub or vendor, share documents and files, and revoke access. It can also request bids, compare the responses, and award one. "Compare the bids on the roofing request." See How to request bids from subs and vendors.
Your business and settings
Business questions: ask for totals, trends, overdue money, and charts or dashboards. See How to ask Handy about your business.
Catalogs and rates: look up your catalogs, update rates, or import rates from a file. "Update my drywall rate to $2.10 a square foot."
Defaults: change your default markups, tax, and proposal settings.
Notifications: summarize the last 24 hours, or change which alerts you get.
Comments and activity: add project comments and log calls or site visits.
Web and help: search the web, or ask how to do something in Handoff.
What Handy asks you to confirm
Handy makes most edits right away and shows you the result. For actions that send something, share something, remove something, or record money, it shows a card first. Select Approve to go ahead, or Cancel to stop.
Cards appear before Handy sends a proposal or invoice, marks a proposal approved, or marks a payment paid. They also appear before it shares a document or daily log, changes portal access, or sends a bid request. Deleting a project, client, invoice, document, comment, or activity needs a card too.
