To require a signature, turn on Require signature in Settings > Presets so every new proposal has a Signature section, or add a Signature section to a single proposal. Your client then selects Sign and accept, types or draws their name, and selects Accept.
Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. Drawn signatures are available on the Flex, Pro, and Scale plans, not on the legacy Business plan. You need permission to edit Estimates, and to edit AI Settings for the default. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Require a signature on every new proposal
Go to Settings > Presets.
Select the Proposals tab.
In the Basic proposal presets card, turn on Require signature.
The setting saves right away. Every proposal you create after this includes a Signature section. Proposals you already created don't change.
If the switch is read-only, ask an admin to give your role permission to edit AI Settings.
Require a signature on one proposal
Open the estimate and go to the Proposal tab.
Add a Signature section. Select the + between sections, or select Add section in the desktop page header, then choose Signature. If your proposal shows add buttons at the bottom instead, select Require signature.
Select the Signature section to open its settings. On desktop, they open in a dialog. In the mobile app, they open in a sheet at the bottom of the screen.
Choose the Signature type: Typed or Drawn.
A proposal requires a signature whenever it has a Signature section. To stop requiring one, remove the section.
Typed is the default. Drawn lets your client sign with a finger or a pointer. Once your client starts signing, the Signature type is locked.
Add more signers
To have more than one person sign, add them as recipients. Each recipient signs their own space with their own link, and the proposal is approved after every required signer has signed. In the Signature section, select Add recipient.
Adding more than one signer is available on the Pro and Scale plans. On those plans, Select team member also lets you choose which team member's name appears as the contractor signature.
What your client does to sign
Your client opens the proposal and selects Sign and accept in the bar at the bottom.
In the Sign here dialog, they type their full name. For a drawn signature, they draw it above the line, and can select Clear to start over.
They select Accept.
Your client's name or drawing is saved as their legally binding signature. On a phone, the drawing pad opens full screen. On a computer, it opens in a dialog.
Handoff notifies you, and the proposal's status changes to Approved. See What happens after a proposal is approved.
