To accept a proposal for your client, open the sent proposal, select the options menu (⋮) > Mark as > Approved, then confirm with Mark as approved. Use it when your client agreed outside Handoff, such as by phone, text, or in person.
Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. You need permission to edit Estimates, and the proposal's status must be Sent. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Mark a proposal as approved
Open the proposal.
Open the options menu (⋮) and select Mark as > Approved. On desktop, the menu is a dropdown. In the mobile app, it opens as a sheet at the bottom of the screen.
In Mark proposal as approved, pick the option your client accepted if the proposal has more than one. Handoff closes the other options as not selected.
Select Mark as approved.
The proposal's status changes to Approved.
What happens when you mark a proposal approved
Handoff runs the same approval steps as when your client accepts. It freezes the approved version, cancels any pending follow-up reminders, and moves the project to Approved. See What happens after a proposal is approved.
Two things differ from a client approval:
No signature is recorded. The dialog reminds you that you are marking it on their behalf.
You aren't notified. Handoff sends the "proposal approved" notification only when your client approves.
When you don't see Mark as
Mark as shows only while the proposal's status is Sent. A draft, approved, or declined proposal doesn't offer it. If a draft hasn't gone out, send it first. See How to send a proposal.
To record that your client turned the proposal down, choose Mark as > Declined, which is also available only on a Sent proposal.
Don't use your client's link to accept
The proposal link is built for your client. If you open it and select Accept yourself, Handoff can record you as the person who viewed it, and a proposal that requires a signature would need you to sign as your client. Use Mark as > Approved instead.
