Handoff AI generates detailed construction estimates from a simple text description. Here is how to create your first estimate.
Create a New Estimate
Go to Projects and open an existing project, or tap + to create a new project.
Inside the project, tap New Estimate (or the + button next to Estimates).
The AI chat opens automatically. Type a description of the job and tap Send.
Example prompt:
“This bathroom remodel is 7’x10’ with 8’ ceilings. Replace shower pan, tile, toilet, vanity, sink, lights, and fan. Repaint with 2 coats.”
Review and Refine the Estimate
Once the AI generates the estimate, you can refine it with follow-up messages:
“Add 10 hours of electrical labor at $85/hr”
“Remove the painting section”
“Change all flooring to engineered hardwood”
You can also edit line items directly in the estimate table by tapping any row.
Tips for Accurate Estimates
Be specific: Include dimensions, square footage, material types, and level of finish.
List all scopes: Mention demo, framing, drywall, flooring, paint, electrical — everything in scope.
Use AI Presets: Save your default labor rates and markups under Settings → Presets so Handoff applies them automatically.
