Handoff lets you save permanent preferences that the AI uses every time it generates an estimate for you. This means you no longer need to type the same instructions in every chat — set them once in Presets and the AI will apply them automatically.
How to Save AI Preferences
Go to Settings → Presets.
Select the Estimates tab.
Scroll to the AI Instructions section.
Tap + or Create instructions to add a new preference.
Type your instruction, for example:
"Set all my labor pricing to $95 per hour"
"Use all materials as high-end finishes"
"Only use Samsung appliances"
"Always use engineered hardwood flooring"
Save the instruction. It will now be applied to all future estimates.
Setting Default Rates
In addition to text instructions, you can set numeric defaults:
Markups — Default Labor, Material, and Other markup percentages
Tax — Default tax rate and what it applies to (Labor / Material / Both)
Below the line markups — Default overhead, contingency, or other buffer fees
Per-Estimate Overrides
Your saved preferences are defaults. You can still type specific instructions in the chat for any individual estimate to override them for that estimate only. For example, typing "use $120/hr for this estimate" in the chat will override your default labor rate for that estimate without changing your Presets settings.
Permissions
The ability to edit AI Presets is controlled by the AI Settings permission in your role. If you can see Presets but the fields are read-only, your role does not have edit access. Ask your admin to update your permissions.
