Why Won't My PDF Export?

If your PDF export is failing, here are the most common causes and how to fix them.


Error: "There was an issue exporting your PDF. Please try again."

This error appears when the PDF generation fails. Try the following:

  1. Check your internet connection — PDF export requires a stable connection. Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi or have a strong cellular signal.

  2. Try again — Tap Export to PDF again from the menu. Temporary server issues sometimes resolve on their own.

  3. Reduce estimate size — Very large estimates with many photos can occasionally time out during export. Try removing some photos or splitting the estimate into sections, then export again.

  4. Reload the app — Close and reopen Handoff, then try the export again.

Export Is Taking a Long Time

Large estimates with many attached photos or images may take a minute or two to generate. Wait for the completion notification before assuming the export has failed.

PDF Downloaded but Looks Wrong

  • Make sure your company details are filled in under Settings → Company settings. Missing company info can affect how the header renders.

  • The PDF layout uses a fixed-width format optimized for printing. Column widths may look slightly different from the in-app view.

Still Having Issues?

If the export continues to fail, contact Handoff support via the chat icon in the app. Include the name of the estimate and a description of what you were doing when the error occurred.
