Open your project and select the Budget tab. The cards at the top show cost, price, spending, and what remains. The table compares each line's price with its actual cost.
Available on the Pro and Scale plans. You need permission to view Job Costing. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Read the cards at the top
On desktop, you see four cards:
Est. cost (before markup): your estimated cost, with the estimated margin percentage under it.
Est. client price: the approved budget, the percentage used, and a status badge.
Total spent: confirmed expenses with tax, plus approved labor hours.
Remaining budget: the budget minus what you have spent.
In the mobile app, the third card is Total cost. The percentage reads "of the budget used".
The status badge shows On track, At risk, or Over budget. See How project budgets work for what each status means.
Read the table on desktop
The table groups your budget by estimate or change order (EST- or CO- plus the number), then by section, then by line item. Section and line item rows show these columns:
Item: the section or line name, with a Labor or Material chip and a cost code pill.
Linked expenses: the first expense name, a +N pill for the rest, and a Labor pill if timesheet labor is assigned to the line.
Est. cost (before markup): your estimated cost.
Est. client price: the approved price, including markup.
Actual cost: confirmed expenses with tax, plus approved labor.
Variance: Est. client price minus Actual cost. A negative number shows in red.
The footer adds up the four amount columns for what is on screen. Use Expand all and Collapse all in the header to open or close every section.
Show the Category and Cost code columns
On desktop, select Toggle fullscreen. On a wide screen, the table then adds separate Category and Cost code columns. Without fullscreen, the category and cost code appear inside the Item cell.
Read the list in the mobile app
The mobile app shows the same groups as a list. Each section card shows its item count and three amounts.
The footer totals follow your filter.
They read Est. cost (before markup) in view, Est. client price in view, Actual cost in view, and Variance in view.
Open a line to see its expenses
Select a line item row to open Line item details. It opens in a side panel on desktop and in a bottom sheet in the mobile app. You need permission to edit Job Costing to open a row.
The panel lists Linked expenses, each tagged Manual entry, Imported, Timesheet, or QuickBooks.
The footer shows Budget, Actual cost, and Variance. Here, Budget is the same amount as Est. client price in the table.
