A proposal is built from sections. On the Pro and Scale plans, you can add nine kinds of section and reorder them. You can also apply layouts, offer up to five options, and set brand colors and fonts.
Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. Everything beyond the basic proposal is on the Pro and Scale plans. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Basic proposal and the full proposal builder
On the Flex and Business plans, a proposal is a fixed document built from your estimate. You edit the wording and add content with Add client message, Add payment schedule, Attach file, Add terms & conditions, and Require signature.
On the Pro and Scale plans, you also control the structure. You insert, reorder, duplicate, and delete sections. You can also apply a layout, add estimate options, edit colors and fonts, use Ask Handy on a section, and send to more than one recipient.
Sections you can add
Use the insert menu to add these sections to a proposal:
Text: a message or any wording you want. You can add as many as you need.
Files: images or other files. You can add as many as you need.
Header: the top of the proposal. One per proposal.
Estimate: your estimate's items. One per proposal.
Schedule: a project schedule. One per proposal.
Payment schedule: when payments are due. One per proposal.
Terms & conditions: your terms. One per proposal.
Signature: a place for your client to sign. One per proposal.
Divider: a line between sections. You can add as many as you need.
In the Estimate section, choose Editable text or Item by item. You can also turn on Show section totals, Show line item prices, Show full breakdown, Hide tax on proposal, and Offer financing.
Options, add-ons, and multiple recipients
A proposal can include up to five estimate options. For setup, see How to add multiple estimate options to a proposal. For choices on single items, see How Options and Add-ons work.
You can address a proposal to more than one recipient on the Pro and Scale plans. For the steps, see How to send a proposal.
Set your brand colors and fonts
Brand settings change the colors and fonts across the whole proposal, so you don't style each section. You need permission to edit company settings.
On desktop, open the ⋮ menu on the Proposal tab and select Edit colors and fonts. In the mobile app, the menu item is not shown. Open a section's editor and use its Color field to reach the same editor.
The editor has Color, Titles, Text, and Theme groups. Select Save changes when you finish. A proposal keeps its look once you send it, so later brand changes don't restyle a sent proposal.
