How to choose your default supplier

Pick Home Depot or Lowe's as the store Handoff uses to price materials, and turn ABC Supply, Ferguson Home, and Delta Faucet catalogs on or off.

Written by Dave Pucci

To choose your default supplier, go to Settings > AI Settings > Catalogs, open the first supplier card, and turn on Enable retail supplier pricing. Then pick Home Depot or Lowe's. Handoff uses that store to price the materials on your new estimates.

Available on all plans. You need permission to edit AI settings. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.

Choose or turn off your retail supplier

  1. Go to Settings > AI Settings > Catalogs.

  2. Open the supplier card for Home Depot or Lowe's, the first card in the list.

  3. On Retail supplier pricing settings, turn on Enable retail supplier pricing.

  4. Select Home Depot or Lowe's.

A note reads "Your next estimate will use [store] items combined with Handoff pricing data." Sent proposals are not affected.

New accounts start with Lowe's selected. Older accounts may be set to Home Depot. Check the selected card on Retail supplier pricing settings, and change it any time.

To turn supplier pricing off, return to Retail supplier pricing settings and turn off Enable retail supplier pricing. To request a store that isn't listed, select Suggest another supplier. On desktop, it is next to the toggle. In the mobile app, it is at the bottom of the screen.

How supplier pricing works

Only one retail supplier, Home Depot or Lowe's, is active at a time. Handy (Handoff's AI assistant) matches the material lines on a new estimate to that store's products and uses their prices. Your clients never see the store or brand, only the item title.

Handoff still fills gaps with its own local data. Lines priced from your own catalogs keep your catalog rate and are not repriced by the supplier.

Add ABC Supply, Ferguson Home, or Delta Faucet

On the Catalogs screen, ABC Supply, Ferguson Home, and Delta Faucet each have their own card below the retail supplier card. They work alongside your default store and do not replace it. You cannot make them your default supplier.

  • Ferguson Home (plumbing, HVAC, and jobsite supplies) and Delta Faucet (kitchen, bath, and commercial plumbing fixtures): open the card and select Enable or Disable. No account is needed.

  • ABC Supply (roofing, siding, and exterior products): connect your ABC Supply account first. The card reads Login Required until you do. See How to connect ABC Supply to Handoff.

When a supplier is disabled, the card reads Disabled and Handy does not match your estimate lines to it. Turning off Enable retail supplier pricing only affects Home Depot and Lowe's, and does not change these cards.

Connect a Home Depot Pro or MyLowe's Pro Rewards account

Connecting a Pro account is optional. Open the retail supplier card, or go to Settings > Integrations & API keys, and select Connect next to Home Depot or Lowe's.

Handoff asks for your Pro phone number or MyLowe's Pro Rewards email, a store ZIP code, and a default store, then a verification code. The card then reads Connected.

Switch suppliers on an estimate you already created

The supplier setting applies to new estimates. To change an existing estimate, open it and ask the AI assistant to switch suppliers, for example "Switch the materials to Home Depot". Handoff rematches the material lines to the other store.
