Handoff can store and organize any file type for your projects, but our AI can specifically process these files to improve your estimates:

• Images - Site photos, progress photos, renderings, material finish photos, receipt photos, and permit photos (JPEG, PNG)

• Videos - Job site videos, progress videos, client walk-through recordings, or site visit reports

• PDF Drawings - Architectural plans, structural plans, MEP plans, concrete plans, civil drawings, and elevation drawings

• Documents - Site reports, inspection reports, scope of work documents, vendor quotes, sub-bids, and specifications (PDF, Word, Excel)

• Audio Files - Voice notes from homeowners, site walk recordings, or client conversations

Our AI reviews the files and works up the scope of work, quantities, rough and finish materials, specific counts, and works them directly from these files.

Beyond estimation, Handoff helps you stay organized:

Once you request an estimate using your files, Handoff will:

• Enter an "analyzing" state to process your files (usually takes seconds, larger files may take longer)

• Extract text from all documents and understand what's in photos • Read back the scope of work it found in your files

• Ask clarifying questions about materials, foundation types, or HVAC preferences

• Generate your itemized estimate based on the file information

You'll see detailed feedback like: "Single story home, 4-car garage, metal roof, board and batten siding" along with footprint dimensions and material specifications.

You can continue improving estimates by uploading more files:

• Additional quotes - Upload vendor quotes and sub-bids to update pricing

• Progress photos - Add photos showing discovered issues like rotted studs

• Change order documentation - Include new scope items with supporting photos and quotes

Simply use the paperclip icon in the chat and tell Handoff: "Update estimate with these vendor quotes and sub-quotes"
