How to manage your notifications

Choose which Handoff events notify you by text, email, or app notification, set your daily summary, and turn on push or browser notifications.

Written by Sofia Herrera

To manage your notifications, go to Settings > Account settings > Notifications. Turn SMS, Email, and App on or off for each type of event. Your changes save right away and apply only to you.

Available on the Flex, Pro, Scale, and Business plans. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.

Turn notification channels on or off

  1. Open Settings (your company logo at the bottom left on desktop, or the button at the top left in the mobile app).

  2. Select Account settings, then go to the Notifications section.

  3. Find the event type you want to change. On desktop, each event is a row with a checkbox under SMS, Email, and App. In the mobile app, each event is a card with a switch for each of the three channels.

  4. Select the checkbox or switch to turn that channel on or off.

The event stays on or off for that channel immediately. There is no Save button. App covers browser notifications on desktop and push notifications in the mobile app.

Client and Internal notifications

The Notifications section has two groups.

  • Client: what your clients do, such as opening invoices, completing payments, or approving proposals and change orders. It also covers follow-up reminders sent to clients.

  • Internal: what your team does, such as changes to estimates, invoices, expenses, schedules, project details, files, daily logs, and team access.

Each event type shows a short description of when you are notified.

Set your daily summary

The Daily summary row sends a weekday morning email with schedule and team updates. Select the dropdown and choose Weekday email to receive it, or Off to stop it.

Turn on push or browser notifications

If device notifications are off, a banner appears at the top of the Notifications section.

  1. On desktop, select Turn on browser notifications. In the mobile app, select Turn on push notifications.

  2. Allow notifications when your browser or phone asks.

The banner goes away once notifications are allowed. If you previously denied permission, the button reads Manage notifications.

On iPhone, you can also select Enable notifications in Settings to open Handoff's page in the iPhone Settings app. The App channel does nothing until your device allows notifications.

What stays on

Your notification inbox keeps every notification, even when you turn a channel off.

On desktop, select Notifications in the left menu. In the mobile app, select the bell icon in the top bar. Texts, emails, and invoices that Handoff sends to your clients for you aren't controlled here.
