To clock in, select Clock in, pick a project or schedule phase, and select Clock in again. To finish, select Clock out, check your shift, and select Clock out again.
Available on the Pro and Scale plans. Tracking time for subcontractors is on the Scale plan. Your company must set up time tracking first. Works on desktop and in the mobile app.
Clock in
On desktop, select Clock in in the header. In the mobile app, crew members open the Schedules tab, where the project picker is on the screen. Managers who also track time select Clock in at the bottom of the screen.
In What are you working on?, pick a schedule phase under Today's schedules, or a project under Your projects. Use Search projects to find one.
To log time that is not for a project, pick No project.
Select Clock in.
The timer starts and Handoff shows Clocked in. You can have only one running shift at a time. If you pick a schedule phase, the shift is tied to that phase.
The timer keeps correct time if you close the app. Time under No project never reaches a project budget.
What Handoff does with your location
Handoff asks for your device location when you clock in and when you clock out. If you decline or no location is found, you can still clock in. Handoff reads your location only at those moments and does not track you in between.
If your company requires crew to be on site, you may see:
You're outside the job site: select Clock in anyway. Your manager reviews the shift.
Location needed to clock in: select Open settings to turn on location, or select Clock in anyway.
Location can't be verified: the project has no address on the map. You can still clock in, and your manager reviews the shift.
Take a break
While the timer runs, select Break. The timer pauses and shows On break.
When you are back, select Resume.
In the mobile app, the break control is a pause button on the timer. Breaks are unpaid, so Handoff subtracts them from your hours.
Clock out
On desktop, select Clock out in the header. In the mobile app, select the stop button on the timer, Stop timer.
Check your clock-in time and total.
In Break (minutes), enter whole minutes. If you left it blank after using Break, Handoff uses that break.
If shown, choose a Budget line item.
If shown, write a Daily log note and add Photos. When your company requires a note, the label reads Daily log note (required).
Select Clock out.
Handoff shows Clocked out. A clean shift is approved automatically. Otherwise it goes to your manager.
The daily log also appears in the project's daily logs.
Request a change to a finished entry
Finished entries are locked. To fix one, open it from Timesheets (Timesheet in the mobile app) and select Request a change. Enter the new Clock in, Clock out, or Break, add a reason, and send it.
Your manager approves or declines the change.
Select Cancel request to withdraw it while it is pending. If your manager rejects an entry, it shows Entry rejected. with the reason. Use Request a change to send a corrected version.
If you forgot to clock out, ask your manager to close the entry.
